Story by Karen Cotton
Q : How did you first become a member of Fate Under Fire ?
Johnson:
“That’s kind of a funny story, I originally became a member of Fate Under Fire by a simple email. I was a fan of the band before hand and I emailed the band asking if they needed a guitar player or knew of anyone who needed a guitar player. I got an email back saying they did not need a guitar player. The next day I got another email back saying the lead guitarist in the band had just left the band because he was getting married and didn’t want to tour anymore. One thing led to another and here I am.”
Q: What do you enjoy the most about playing music?
Q: What do you like about being a member of Fate Under Fire?
Q: Can you tell me about the newest song that was just released on February 15th, “River?”
Q: What is the band’s goal in 2018?
Q: How long have you been playing the guitar and how old are you now?
” I have been playing guitar for around 5-6 years now and I am 17.”
Q: What made you pick up a guitar in the first place?
“I’ve always wanted to play guitar, growing up as a kid I would play Guitar Hero all the time and I would mess around on a little guitar my parents bought from Target. But the two things that really pushed me into playing the guitar was my cousin and trying to impress a girl that I liked.”
Q: Do you help the band leader, David, songwrite?
Q: How would you describe the sound of Fate Under Fire ? What are the band’s influences?
Johnson:
“Fate Under Fire is a alternative rock/pop band. I think we sound similar to One Republic and Imagine Dragons.”
Q: What’s the hardest part about being a touring musician?
Johnson:
“There are a few things that can make touring challenging. The lack of sleep can be a huge factor, having to make sure you’re fully prepared for the time you’re gone for, and possibly at times missing meals which really isn’t that bad. But it all makes up for it and it’s 100% worth it.”
Q: What is your favorite song to perform in the Fate Under Fire set list? and why?
Q: Do you all get along really well?
Johnson:
“Everyone in the band gets along really well. There aren’t any arguments or anything like that. I am truly very happy that we all get along so well.”
Q: How do you spend your free time when you’re off the road?
Johnson:
“I spend my time when I’m not touring doing a lot of different things. I work. I do school. I hangout with my friends, play guitar, practice with the band, etc.”
Q: What’s your most amazing experience with the band so far?
Q: Do you enjoy making music videos? What’s that like?
Johnson:
“I really enjoy making music videos. I feel like music videos are a very good way to show how the artist/band truly meant their song to feel and they can express it through video.”
Q: Does the band have an outside cause they also like to discuss at concerts?
Johnson:
“We do Benefits Concerts to help get news around to certain outside causes but we don’t have an outside cause that we mention every concert we have.”
Q: What are your personal goals as a musician?
Q: Will your band ever tour in the Western part of the U.S.? if so do you have plans on doing so this year?
Q: Where can people find your music?
Johnson;
“People can find our music on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Sound Cloud, and more.”
Q: Where were you the first time you heard a song from your band on the radio?
Q: What do you hope to accomplish this year as a member of Fate Under Fire?
