Alexia Mahaffy got her start in cosmetology doing her friends’ hair and nails as a young child for fun, which lead to her career.
Now the 22-year-old works at Old Town Lane Spa and Salon in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Map below:
Here’s a Q and A with Mahaffy:
Q: How did you decide to do cosmetology?
A: “I decided to do cosmetology when I discovered the love of doing my own nails and my friends’ nails when I was little. I also loved being able to do my friends’ hair, as well in high school.”
Q: What’s your favorite service you offer?
A: “My favorite service to offer currently is fills with nail art. I love being able to be creative.”
Q: Where did you go to school?
A: “I went to high school in Burns, WY. I then went to college in Torrington at Eastern Wyoming College to get my cosmetology license. I chose EWC because I loved that I was able to get my Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences at the same time as earning my cosmetology license.”
Q: What’s your favorite part of your job?
A: “I love being able to help people feel and look their best in their own bodies. I love helping people feel their best and put together through having their hair and nails done.”
Q: What are hobbies you do in your off time?
A: “In my off time I love to watch TV show series’ based off of modern Westerns, solving crimes and chic flicks. I also enjoy spending time with my family, boyfriend and friends. I enjoy playing card games or even building puzzles.”
Q: What do you enjoy the most?
A: “I enjoy helping those around me from helping them look and feel their best to helping out the community in various ways. I enjoy working, as well. I love what I do for work. I grew up being told to find something you love to do and that you’ll never work a day in your life. I did exactly that.”
